About Chapman
Chapman is defined as a 3rd class city and is governed by an elected mayor and five council members.  In 1872 the community was incorporated and named after the Chapman Creek. This was then the beginning of the town of Chapman.   The area around the Chapman community is primarily agricultural and also consist of retirees, civil service workers and army personnel, with Fort Riley only 15 miles away.  The Chapman community is rich with Irish heritage history and celebrated its first Labor Day celebration in 1909 and continues the tradition today
